3-Mercaptopropionic acid(Cas 107-96-0) Usage and Factory

Definition

ChEBI: A mercaptopropanoic acid that is propanoic acid carrying a sulfanyl group at position 3.

General Description

3-Mercaptopropionic acid is an organosulfur which is a bifunctional molecule, containing both carboxylic acid and thiol groups. It is a colorless oil. It is derived from the addition of hydrogen sulfide to acrylic acid.
Apperance 3-Mercaptopropionic acid is a liquid and doses between 30 and 60 mg/kg can be used for IP seizure induction throughout development

, Biosensors and Bioelectronics Volume 22, Issue 2 , 15 August 2006, Pages 233-240

The system is specific for alpha-fetoprotein and can be regenerated and reused up to 48 times. Therefore, self-assembled monolayer using thiourea which is cheaper than thioctic acid and 3-mercaptopropionic acid is a good alternative for biosensor applications when SAMs are used.

Atomic absorption spectrometric determination of Al3+ and Cr3+ after preconcentration and separation on 3-mercaptopropionic acid modified silica coated-Fe3O4nanoparticles

Mohammad Hossein Mashhadizadeh*a  and  Mitra Amoli-Divaa

, Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry, Issue 2, 2013

A new magnetic solid sorbent was synthesized using 3-mercaptopropionic acid grafted silica modified Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles. The sorbent was characterized by SEM, XRD, and FT-IR and used for solid phase extraction of Al3+ and Cr3+ ions. Al3+ and Cr3+ ions were measured by graphite furnace and flame atomic absorption spectrometry, respectively.
